ADJUNCT EMDR
in Englewood, NJ
online: NJ, NY & all PSYPACT states.

Specialized EMDR processing alongside your client’s existing therapeutic relationship.

Sometimes a client is doing meaningful work with their therapist — building insight, strengthening the relationship, developing coping strategies — and yet there is unprocessed trauma that continues to hold them back. The therapeutic work has reached a place where deeper processing is needed, but the primary therapist may not be trained in EMDR, or may prefer to focus on the relational and supportive dimensions of treatment while a specialist handles the trauma reprocessing.

That is where adjunct EMDR comes in.

How It Works:

In this collaborative model, the client continues their ongoing therapy with their primary clinician while working with me specifically for EMDR trauma processing. The roles are clearly defined:

The primary therapist maintains responsibility for the broader treatment — the therapeutic relationship, ongoing support, and overall clinical direction. They continue to be the anchor of the client’s care.

I provide the EMDR processing — targeting specific traumatic memories, stuck points, or symptom clusters that have been identified as barriers to the client’s progress. This work is focused, structured, and time-limited. When the targeted processing is complete, the adjunct work concludes and the client continues with their primary therapist.

Who This Is For:

Adjunct EMDR may be a good fit when:

A client has a strong and valued relationship with their current therapist and does not want to leave that relationship to pursue EMDR elsewhere.

The primary therapist recognizes that unprocessed trauma is limiting the client’s progress and wants to bring in a specialist to address it directly.

The client’s presentation involves complex trauma, childhood wounds, anxiety rooted in earlier traumatic experience, or other material that would benefit from targeted reprocessing within a structured EMDR framework.

The primary therapist wants the confidence of knowing that the EMDR processing is being delivered by an EMDRIA-Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant with over 30 years of clinical experience and advanced integrative training.
